Initial waiting times
Of the 107,896 patients waiting for a first outpatient appointment in June 2012, 30.8 per cent (33,203) had been waiting for more than nine weeks and 5.3 per cent (5,673) had been waiting for more than 21 weeks. Under Executive targets, no patient should be waiting for more than 21 weeks.
Waiting at this time was most common in oral surgery, general medicine, ophthalmology, ear, nose and throat medicine, neurology, cardiology and urology.
