George Best Belfast City Airport: listening and committed
George Best Belfast City Airport is acutely aware of the environment that it operates within.
As the second largest employer in East Belfast, we are committed to supporting the local community with an emphasis on young people and schools.
Helping young people realise their ambitions is a key element of a comprehensive corporate responsibility strategy which is central to our business.
Over the last three years, our Community Fund has financially supported more than 40 local groups and youth projects across South and East Belfast and North Down.
We have close ties to the community we serve through a series of ongoing programmes with local schools, with staff from all levels at the airport regularly giving their time to fulfil the commitments we have made to the community.
The airport has a dedicated Environment Executive who is making a significant difference in terms of the how the airport operates within its environment and its sustainability.
We strive to implement policies that minimise waste and maximise efficiency, improving our environmental performance across our business and the wider community.
We operate an open door policy for anyone that wishes to discuss our operations.
We regularly update local residents through our community news letter which is distributed to 24,000 households in the neighbouring area. We also converse through our social media channels and can be contacted directly to talk about any issues that may arise.
It’s by listening and ensuring that corporate responsibility is placed at the centre of our business operations that we have built lasting relationships with our local community. A community who are proud of the airport as a facilitator and as a significant employer now and in the future.
